May peace be upon you.

I'm Anas and today I would like to share my stories about my reflection on one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals that I have experienced throughout my life. This reflection will be focusing on "Life Below Water", which is the 14th SDGs. First of all, this story is about me practicing the act of reducing plastic usage in my life consistently as this problem keeps growing up and haunts as in many aspects of life.

Before this practice's journey started, I have predicted some of the cases and challenges will pass across my path to consistently doing this thing while at my home or outside. Apparently, I expected there may be some challenges like a lack of consistency in doing this thing, not having a support from other persons due to lack of awareness towards this issue and also alternative options that may be not as effective as the main option. Because of that, I have prepared myself early by set up my mindset, prepare the talk and evidences that will help me to convince others to understand that our issues are critical and also do a research about some of the good alternative options that will benefit me later on in my life rather than using plastic.

After that, thankfully all of that preparation really paid me off with a great result as I able to overcame all the challenges that I have expected before this journey even started. I don't think there is anything I could do better than what I have done in this journey as I have been reducing 70% of the plastic types like straws`, plastic bags and much more but one thing I might regret is not doing this early enough. This practical taught me many things such as to be consistent and persistent in order to gain a better future in life by taking a good care of this environment.

Next, I am feeling proud and much of relieved every time I have done something that will become a beneficial thing for the environment itself as I getting more excited to make this attitude sustain. On top of that, I really appreciated those people who are stand by me and keep motivated me in doing this good deeds and that makes me feel I could do any better even there is similar event as I think this practical was absolutely on top, because of I am not just trying to sustain the life below water but also I get to learn many new things such as the tips that might be simple but could save the thousand of lives.

REFLECTIVE JOURNAL (ENTRY 1)

May peace be upon you.

I'm Anas and today I would like to share my reflection on one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals that I have experienced throughout my life. This reflection focuses on "Good Health and Well-Being," and this story is about my experience in helping my friend to prevent him from having a bad mental health and also physically, and trying to get him into better health.

This journey started when I saw this close friend of mine having bad mental health or we could say burnout after not having a good study time and also not taking care of his self-care routines. Before I took my step, I expected that there would be some challenges while trying to help him. For example, maybe he would ignore my efforts or not believe in what I was trying to do and say. Because of that, I had to carefully plan a solid strategy to make him believe that I was trying to help him and to follow my suggestions. After that, maybe the plan would go smoothly.

With all the preparations and strategies that I had planned, it turned out well and even better than I expected. Unfortunately, there were still some challenges I had to go through even though my plan was going well. But all praises to Allah, I was able to overcome those problems one by one quite well. For example, I had to push or convince my friend multiple times to make sure he did what I told him to for his health.

Aside from that, I learned a lot from this experience from many aspects. For example, there is nothing harder than being consistent in life. I also learned that people do need rest and "me time" in their life, and they need to be smart in studying without pushing the body too much. On top of that, people must take care of their self-care routines regardless of how busy they are especially students in order to have better health, both mentally and physically.

After this journey ended, I felt very relieved and happy about how things turned out for my friend, and I felt proud of myself for not ignoring him especially when he was my closest friend at university at that time. Sometimes I think about what might have happened if I had ignored him while he was on the brink of falling, and it makes me feel afraid even thinking about it.

Throughout this journey, there were moments I felt really pleased with, but the one that will always stay in my heart was when he started doing the things I used to remind him of on his own. It showed me that he was becoming a much better and healthier person. If you ask me what I would do differently next time, I would make sure to check on my friends earlier before it’s too late. Lastly, from this journey I gained many lessons in life on how to treat our bodies better, the importance of health, and how to take care of our well-being.
